Laser Hair Removal

Candela makes a state of the art hair removal laser. It is a 755 nm Alexandrite laser.

The laser shoots and immediately sends down a coolant spray for minimal pain. Treatments go fast, it takes about 3 minutes to laser a whole face, 30 seconds for both armpits. Backs take a little longer depending on size, but an average is 15 minutes. Complete legs take the longest, 25 to 35 minutes depending on how big.

Your first visit has to be with Dr. Robert Salamon, he is Board Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  The laws in Ohio are very strict and dictate that only certain individuals can laser without a doctor present. I am a Licensed Cosmetic Therapist and we are the only group of people (besides Nurse Practitioners)  in the State of Ohio that can laser without a doctor after the first treatment.  Our clinic days are Saturday mornings for your first treatment. After that we are open on Monday , Wednesdays and Saturdays.

All the hair is in 3 different stages of growth, First, second and third. Approximately 1/3 is in each stage. The laser light can only kill the hair that is in the 1st stage of growth when the hair bulb is big and full. The other 2/3 of hair are in the 2nd and 3rd stage of growth where the hair bulb or “papilla’ is dormant. The hair in the 2nd and 3rd stage will die and fall out, but the 1st stage is underneath ready to come up. That’s why we repeat a treatment in a month to kill the new stage and every 6-8 weeks after that to get to the hair that is in the first stage of growth.  Only 1/3 of the area of hair is in the 1 stage of growth. So it only kills a certain percentage of hair and repetitive treatments are required. Laser hair removal requires a once a year maintenance treatment. The hair that grows back for “maintenance” are light, fine and very sparse.
